Finally got around to installing the fan and isolator kits on my Re:load Pro today. I would like to experiment with some fans with more umph to see if I can bring down the heatsink temperature when running a heavy load. Nick, what is my max current capacity per fan on the Re:load Pro?
Are you asking about the current capacity of the fans themselves, or of the fan driver? The driver is limited largely by USB current draw, which has to remain under 500mA for the whole device.
I should have been more specific. I'm looking for the rated current of each fan at full 5v supply. I imagine there isn't too much margin below 500mA with the fans at full tilt, and I want to stay computer USB port compatible so a can do long term logging. Thanks!
Ah, right. The fans are rated at 100mA at full speed; stall current may be a little higher than that. The Re:load Pro itself typically draws under 100mA - so in theory you could add another couple of identical fans.
Let me know how you get on - in my testing, I found that more airflow had limited benefits, as we're reaching the point where the issue is heat dissipation over the small area of the transistor die.
